Mitral Regurgitation (MR)

Etiology

Rheumatic heart disease in ~33% of patients with chronic MR. Other causes: mitral valve prolapse, ischemic heart disease with papillary muscle dysfunction, LV dilatation of any cause, mitral annular calcification, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, infective endocarditis, congenital.
